Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake this YSL June Box Bag for a while now, and I finally did it. I saw that the official Saint Laurent online store has this bag, and I thought, why not try to make one myself?

First, I looked around for the right materials. I knew that the YSL bags usually have some serial number, usually on a small leather tab inside or pressed into the interior pocket. For this, I needed to find a good piece of leather that feels right, not too stiff, not too soft. I also checked out some variations of the bag, like the Le 5 7, some are made with python and calfskin, which makes them more of a collectible, I guess. But for this project, I decided to stick with regular leather to keep it simple.

After getting all my materials together, I started working on the bag. I cut the leather into the right shapes, making sure to follow the basic design of the June Box Bag. It’s all about getting those clean lines and the right dimensions. Then, I stitched the pieces together. This part took some time because I wanted to make sure the stitching was neat and strong, just like the real deal.

  • Cut the leather.
  • Stitch the pieces together.
  • Add the hardware.

Then came the hardware. I found some similar-looking buckles and a chain strap that matched the style of the YSL bag. Attaching these was a bit tricky, but I managed to get them on securely. The hardware really brings the whole thing together and makes it look more authentic.

Final touches

Once the main part of the bag was done, I added a few finishing touches. I made a small leather tab with a fake serial number and stitched it inside, just for fun. I also cleaned up any rough edges and made sure everything looked polished. I heard that YSL Beauty is owned by L’Oral, which is interesting, but not really relevant to making a bag, haha.

In the end, I was pretty happy with how the bag turned out. It’s not exactly like the one from the official store, but it looks good and feels sturdy. Plus, it was a fun project to work on. I even got some compliments on it when I took it out the other day. If you’re in the US, you can probably find similar materials at stores like Nordstrom, or at least that’s what I’ve heard. But making it yourself is way more satisfying, trust me.

So yeah, that’s how I remade the YSL June Box Bag. It was a cool little project, and I’m already thinking about what to make next. Maybe I’ll try one of those python variations next time, who knows?
