Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake a Prada bag for a while now, specifically the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition bag. I mean, this bag, it’s just so classic, right? It came out in like, 2007, and it’s still super popular. Anyway, I finally decided to go for it.

First, I spent a ton of time looking at pictures of the bag online. I wanted to get every little detail just right. I studied how the bag was put together, the type of leather, the hardware, everything. You know, just really getting a feel for it.

Then, I started sketching. I drew out all the panels, the handles, the little triangle logo thingy. It took a few tries to get the dimensions right. I also made a list of all the materials I would need: Saffiano leather, of course, lining fabric, thread, zippers, and all that jazz.

Next up, the really fun part: finding the materials. I went to a bunch of different leather stores, trying to find the perfect Saffiano. You wouldn’t believe how many different textures there are! I also searched online for some of the hardware, like the little feet at the bottom of the bag and the metal rings for the strap. I learned so many different ways to find the raw materials from so many different places.

  • Cutting the leather: This was nerve-wracking! I made cardboard templates first, so I wouldn’t mess up the actual leather. I was not really sure that I can make it. But when I tried to do it. I made it.
  • Sewing the panels: I used my trusty sewing machine for this. It was a bit tricky, especially around the corners, but I took my time and it turned out pretty good.
  • Adding the lining: I chose a nice, soft fabric for the inside. It felt really luxurious. I sewed it in by hand, which took forever, but it was worth it.
  • Attaching the hardware: This was probably the most challenging part. I had to use special tools to set the rivets and attach the metal pieces. I did it quite well.

Finally, after many days of work, it was done! My very own handmade version of the Small Prada Galleria Saffiano Special Edition bag. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but I was so proud of it. I learned a lot during the process, and it was just really satisfying to create something with my own hands. Who knows, maybe I’ll try making another designer bag sometime. It’s actually really fun!
