So, I’ve been on a bit of a journey lately, and I thought I’d share it with you all. You know I’m all about diving deep into things that catch my eye, and this time it was the Rolex GMT-Master II Left-Handed Version, or as some call it, the “Destro”. I mean, who wouldn’t be intrigued, right? The whole idea of a watch designed for lefties, in this day and age, seemed pretty rad to me.
First off, I started digging around to see what the buzz was all about. I remember reading somewhere that Rolex finally made this “Destro” version, a GMT-Master II, specifically for the left-handed folks. Kind of about time, if you ask me. Anyway, I got my hands on one and the first thing that hit me was the new green and black bezel. It’s pretty slick, not gonna lie. It’s not every day you see a color combo like that on a Rolex.
Now, getting into the nitty-gritty, I popped the hood open, metaphorically speaking, of course. This bad boy is powered by what they call the “caliber 3285”. It’s an in-house mechanical movement thingy, and apparently, it’s got 31 jewels and runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour. I’m no watch expert, but that sounds impressive, right?
- I wore it around for a few days, you know, to get a real feel for it.
- Fiddled with the crown, which, by the way, is on the left side. That took some getting used to, I’ll admit.
- Tried setting the time, playing around with the GMT function – the whole shebang.
I gotta say, the whole “Superlative Chronometer certification” thing makes sense. I mean, the watch didn’t skip a beat, kept time like a champ. And the fact that it’s all assembled and tested by Rolex themselves? That’s some serious quality control.
After spending some quality time with the “Destro”, I get the hype. I mean, I can’t say it is all that great, but it is a cool watch. It’s different, it’s got a bit of a unique vibe, and it definitely stands out from the usual Rolex crowd. Plus, the whole left-handed design is a neat touch.
The Verdict?
Would I buy one for myself? Maybe! I mean, I’m a fan of unique timepieces, and I’ve got a soft spot for well-made gear. And I think I will get one in the near future. This “Destro” is a solid piece of craftsmanship. It’s got that Rolex quality, a fresh look, and it’s a conversation starter, for sure. So, yeah, I’m giving it a thumbs up. But hey, that’s just my two cents. You do you, as always.
