Alright, so, I was scrolling through my phone, and this YSL June Box Bag kept popping up. It’s like, everywhere. Everyone’s talking about it. And I thought, “Why not try to remake one myself?” I mean, it looked kinda simple, and I was up for a challenge.
First thing I did was to hunt down some pictures of this bag. I scoured the internet, looking at every angle, every stitch, every detail. I even checked out some used ones online – they’re all over the place – to get a better sense of the size and how it’s put together. I found out it’s named after some fancy lady, and it’s one of those things that’s in one minute and out the next. But hey, it looked cool, and I wanted to make one.
Then, I got down to business. I drew up some plans, making sure I got all the measurements right. This bag has a flap and some fancy diamond-quilted stitching. It looked kinda tricky, but I was determined.
Next, I needed materials. I already have some fabric and other bits and pieces lying around from my previous projects, but this one needs some good quality leather, so I ordered some online. Also, I needed to get some tools ready, like a sewing machine, needles, thread, and a bunch of other stuff that I already have.
- Sewing machine: I have this old Singer that my grandma gave me. It’s a bit clunky, but it gets the job done.
- Needles and thread: I made sure I had some heavy-duty needles and some strong thread that matched the leather.
- Cutting tools: I sharpened my rotary cutter and got my cutting mat ready.
- Other bits and pieces: I gathered some rulers, fabric markers, and some clips to hold the leather in place while I sew.
Once I had everything, I started cutting out the leather. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but I took my time and made sure each piece was cut just right. I followed the pattern I drew up earlier, and soon enough, I had all the pieces ready to be sewn together.
Sewing leather is no joke. It’s tough and thick, and you need to be patient. I started with the diamond-quilted stitching on the flap. It took a while, and I had to redo a few stitches here and there, but eventually, I got the hang of it. It actually looked pretty good!
After that, I sewed the rest of the bag together. I attached the flap, added the sides, and put in the lining. It was a slow process, but I was enjoying it. I even added a little pocket inside for my phone.
The final touch was the hardware. The original bag has this fancy “CASSANDRE” thing on the front. I didn’t have anything like that, so I improvised. I found an old metal logo I used to be using and I attached it to the flap. It wasn’t the same, but it added a nice touch.
The Result
And there you have it! My very own, homemade version of the YSL June Box Bag. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s a bit rough around the edges, but it’s got character. And it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg like those fancy designer ones.
So, if you’re ever thinking about getting one of these bags, maybe consider making one yourself. It’s a fun project, and you’ll end up with something unique that you can be proud of. Plus, you’ll save a ton of money! Just don’t expect it to be a walk in the park. It takes time, patience, and a bit of skill. But trust me, it’s worth it in the end.
